Our Story
Just as the North Canadian River flows through the heart of Oklahoma, River’s Edge Barbecue Sauce runs deep through the veins of four generations.
From the hills of Tennessee, Alma Jones relocated her family to Edmond in the early 1930’s, where she opened The Little Café, just off of old Route 66 and Main Street. It was there, where the Jones family tradition of serving hot meals to hungry friends and family was born, and the Great Depression was survived with the help of good food and a lot of love.
Jones’ barbecue sauce was a hit with the local diners, and has now been the center of attention, the topic conversation, the star of football games, birthday parties, and backyard bon fires for over 80 years.
The secret recipe was eventually passed down, where it has traveled across Oklahoma and made a name for itself again, this time in the hands of great granddaughter, Heather.
Coincidentally marrying a Jones boy from Calvin, Heather and her husband Boyd, settled and began their family in Muskogee and quickly became active within the local school system and community. Friends, colleagues, and fellow Rougher football fans alike could not get enough of Heather’s barbecue. The Jones tradition of “our table to yours” was established once again.
Launched in 2016, River’s Edge is bringing our family barbecue sauce back to you.
Now you too, can cook like the Joneses.
